Robotics Software Engineer - Sensor Fusion & Localization (m/f/d)
The Role
We’re looking for a Robotics Software Engineer - Sensor Fusion & Localization (m/f/d) to join our fast-growing robotics team. You’ll play a key role in developing and deploying the software that powers our next-generation unmanned ground vehicles, used in both governmental and commercial domains. From perception and control to communication and system integration, your
work will shape how our robots interact with the real world. This position is ideal for those passionate about advancing robotics and applying software skills to solve real-world challenges in a collaborative, hands-on environment.
To join our team, you should be excited to
Develop, test, and maintain software for autonomous and semi-autonomous ground robots
Design and implement sensor fusion algorithms to integrate data from multiple sources (e.g., IMU, GPS, LiDAR, wheel encoders) for accurate and reliable localization
Enhance core robotic capabilities such as localization, navigation, communication, and system diagnostics
Work with a variety of sensors, actuators, embedded systems, and networking stacks to ensure robust real-world performance
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, electronics, and systems engineers, to achieve seamless hardware-software integration
Contribute to architectural and design decisions focused on creating modular, scalable, and maintainable codebases
Support validation efforts and perform field testing of robotic platforms in realistic and demanding environments
Write clean, well-documented code and contribute to technical documentation and internal knowledge sharing initiatives
Mentor junior developers and play an active role in promoting engineering excellence across the team
Your Profile
Demonstrate over 5 years of experience in robotics software development.
Proficient in C++ with practical experience using ROS2 (Robot Operating System)
Demonstrated expertise in sensor fusion techniques (e.g., Kalman Filters, EKF/UKF) and localization methods (e.g., SLAM, dead reckoning, GNSS integration)
In-depth knowledge of robotic systems including sensors, actuators, embedded computing, and real-time system constraints
Familiar with key communication protocols such as CAN, Ethernet, TCP/UDP, and serial interfaces
Experienced in Linux environments, Docker-based workflows, and contemporary CI/CD pipelines
Strong analytical and debugging skills, especially in hardware-integrated software systems.
Hold a degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
Fluent in English and German language skills are a plus.
